Foggia Airport, named ‘Gino Lisa’, is a civil airport located about 3 km from the city of Foggia, accessible by bus and shuttle service. The airport covers the whole province of Foggia, and part of the surrounding provinces Avellino, Benevento, Campobasso and Potenza. The airport mainly handles regional tourism, holiday and leisure flights.
Foggia airport has on average just 170 passengers per day, who all arrive by helicopter, given the suspension of regular air flights from November 2011.
For now the airport remains open with helicopter flights operated by Alidaunia. The tourist paradises of Gargano and the Tremiti Islands, as well as religious tourism, could provide the basis for a lasting revival of Foggia airport.
