Easyjet behind the times at London Airports
Easyjet have been under increasing pressure this summer and has missed 50% of its scheduled flight times during June. sources revealed. The Airlline company advised earlier this year that it was suffering meeting scheduled flights due to Industry strikes and to deal with this and its knock on effects, they have had to use a number of ghost flights. This is to ensure there is transportation for their customers. A ghost flight involves chartering an empty plane from one airport to another airport, such as from Gatwick to Heathrow. This is generally accepted in the industry but it is the frequency that Easyjet has had to use this type of serivce that is frowned upon. It has both large financial and environmental reprecussions.
In an article in the Sundays Times on Sunday 22nd, it was stated that Easyjet admitted that this was not down to air strikes, but mainly due to lack of trained staff and badly organised rostering. This has all lead to disagreements between Stelios and the Board. Stelios insists that this is devaluing the brand as most of the planes used are not branded with the Easyjet logo colour and overall brand.
