About Salerno station

Salerno railway station serves the city of Salerno and it is the main railway station of the city. It is located at the junction of several lines and is also served by the Mercato San Severino: Italian town and comune of the province of Salerno in the south-west region of Italy. It also is a departure point on two major national lines, the Naples-Salerno line and the Salerno-Reggio Calabria line.

Salerno station is an important hub for regional and long distance trains. It was opened in 1866. Since November 2013 the station is also served by suburban railway named "Metro Salerno". Expansion plans will also soon link the station to the city's eastern suburb, and Salerno-Pontecagnano Airport.
